World Mental Health Day

The event organized by the Mental Health Department of the Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands and the International Action Art, under the auspices of the European and North American Federation of Clubs and Associations for UNESCO, was held with great success on the occasion of World Mental Health Day.

The event aimed to highlight the importance of mental resilience in the workplace, the connection between mental health and career guidance, and the value of building bridges of cooperation for a healthy and sustainable professional future.

The event was opened by Mr. Ioannis Maronitis, President of the European and North American Federation of Clubs and Associations for UNESCO and President of the Club for UNESCO of Piraeus and Islands, who emphasized the need for continuous awareness, education, and empowerment of professionals on mental health issues.

Distinguished scientists, academics, and professionals from the fields of psychology, education, and social welfare took part in the event.

Among them were Dr. Klea Nomikou Tsantaridi, Director of Mental Health and MSc Neuropsychologist, who analyzed the fundamental importance of mental health in education and career development, Professor Anna Pagoropoulou, Faculty of Psychology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, who spoke about the stress experienced by working mothers and Dr. Georgios Lyrakos, Clinical Psychologist and CBT Psychotherapist, who presented the impact of workplace conflicts on employees’ mental health.

A special contribution was made by the postgraduate students of the M.A. program “Career Guidance, Counseling and Lifelong Learning” of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, who presented original approaches and actions to enhance mental resilience in the workplace.

A particularly moving moment was the speech delivered by Mrs. Despina Griva, mother of Kyriaki Griva, who spoke with deep emotion and humanity about the importance of mental health, love, and support in everyday life. Her heartfelt words touched everyone present, reminding all that behind every effort for progress lies the strength of the human spirit.
